LEAP Integration

Updated over a week ago

The Lawmatics–LEAP integration connects your client intake and matter management workflows, allowing matter data, documents, notes, and relationships to sync seamlessly between the two systems. Once connected, you can control exactly when matters sync and how Lawmatics fields map to LEAP.

LEAP Integration Settings

To access the LEAP integration settings, sign in to Lawmatics and click the Settings gear icon in the bottom-left corner of your account. From there, select Integrations and click LEAP.

You will be asked for your LEAP login credentials in order to connect the integration.

Note: It is required that you have Matter Numbering turned on in LEAP. You can find those settings here. If this setting is not turned on, syncing matters to LEAP from Lawmatics will give you a "Sync Failed" error.

Matter Conversion Sync

When Matter Conversion Sync Enabled is turned on, matters will automatically sync to LEAP when they are converted to a client in Lawmatics.

This allows you to include LEAP syncing as part of your hiring workflow, without requiring a manual sync action.

When you click the convert button (or trigger it via automation), three things happen:

  1. The matter is synced to LEAP

  2. The matter status in Lawmatics changes to "Hired"

  3. The matter is assigned a Converted Date.

Matter Document Sync

Enable this setting to sync documents from Lawmatics to LEAP.

  • Existing documents on a matter will sync during the initial sync

  • New documents added after syncing will be included during subsequent syncs

  • Documents will appear in LEAP in a folder named Lawmatics Files

Matter Note Sync

Enable this setting to sync notes from Lawmatics to LEAP.

  • Existing notes will sync during the initial sync

  • New notes added after syncing will be included during subsequent syncs

  • Notes are created in LEAP as comments and placed in a folder named Lawmatics Notes

Matter Relationship Sync

When enabled, related contacts on a matter in Lawmatics will sync to LEAP.

  • Related contacts are created as separate contacts in LEAP

  • Each contact is connected to the matter using the appropriate relationship label (for example, Attorney, Plaintiff, Court)

Matter Type Location

Select the State that determines which LEAP Matter Types are available for mapping. This ensures that Lawmatics Practice Areas are mapped to the correct LEAP Matter Types based on jurisdiction.

Map Practice Areas

Practice Area mapping ensures that matters synced from Lawmatics are created in LEAP with the correct Matter Type.

Each Lawmatics Practice Area must be mapped to a corresponding LEAP Matter Type before syncing.

How to map Practice Areas

  1. Select a Lawmatics Practice Area from the dropdown

    • If a Practice Area does not appear, it has already been mapped

  2. Select the corresponding LEAP Matter Type from the LEAP dropdown

  3. Click Add Mapping

  4. Confirm the mapping appears in the list below

Once mapped, any matter using that Practice Area will sync to LEAP with the selected Matter Type.

Map Contact Fields

This section controls how contact information in Lawmatics maps to contact fields in LEAP.

To create a contact field mapping:

  1. Select a Lawmatics Field

  2. Select the corresponding LEAP Contact Field

  3. Click Add Mapping

Some standard contact fields are commonly mapped by default, such as:

  • First Name → Person First Name

  • Last Name → Person Last Name

  • Email → Person Email

  • Phone numbers → Person Phone fields

  • Address → Card Street Address

Mapped contact fields will sync automatically whenever a matter is synced to LEAP.

Map Matter Fields

This section defines how matter-level fields in Lawmatics map to LEAP matter fields.

Standard matter fields are mapped automatically and cannot be edited. These include items such as:

  • Case Title - Case Description

  • Practice Area

  • Matter Owner

Once synced, any data entered into these fields in Lawmatics will sync to the corresponding fields in LEAP.

Custom Field Mappings

Custom field mappings allow you to sync additional Lawmatics matter fields to LEAP.

To add a custom field mapping:

  1. Select a LEAP Matter Type

  2. Choose the Lawmatics Matter Field

  3. Select the corresponding LEAP Field

  4. Save the mapping

Custom field mappings apply only to the selected LEAP Matter Type.

Syncing Matters to LEAP

Once your integration settings and mappings are complete, matters can be synced to LEAP in two ways:

  • Manual Sync: Click Sync to LEAP at the top of a matter once required fields are populated

  • Automatic Sync via Conversion: If Matter Conversion Sync Enabled is turned on, clicking Convert will automatically sync the matter to LEAP

Clicking Sync on a matter that has already been synced will update the existing matter in LEAP, not create a duplicate.
