Track Matters' Time in Pipeline Stages

The pipeline is a great tool to keep track of the progress of your matters in Lawmatics. You can have a pipeline for any of your firm’s processes, including intake, case management, or a flow specific to a certain practice area. The pipeline gives you an at-a-glance view of the steps in this process, and where your matters fall on those steps. Each step in the pipeline is referred to as a stage.

To create a pipeline, along with its stages, go to the settings gear in the top right of any Lawmatics page, and then select Pipelines on the left. This is where you will build and edit any of your pipelines along with their stages.

As your leads and matters are flowing through your various pipelines you may find it useful to track the amount of time a matter has spent in a particular stage. Lawmatics allows you to do this easily by enabling the "Track Time in Stage" toggle on your pipeline stages.

Simply go to the pipelines page in settings and click the edit pencil for any of your existing stages, or create a new one, and you will see the option shown above.

When this toggle is turned on, as shown above, the system will automatically log the amount of time any matter spends in that stage. This will be useful for your firm's reporting to locate bottlenecks in your process.

Discover where leads tend to get stuck or delayed in your pipeline. Armed with these insights, you can fine-tune your processes and make informed changes that smooth out your lead journey, ultimately accelerating conversions.

There are several ways to access your time in stage data for matters. First, on the matter's profile you will see a gray button labeled Show Details on the right side underneath the pipeline diagram:

Click this button, highlighted above, to view the time in stage for this matter.

NOTE: only stages where you have toggled on the option to track time in stage from your pipeline settings page will be tracked. If you wish to track the time in every stage, make sure to toggle on that option for each and every stage within your pipeline(s).

You can also view this data in your custom reports. When creating a report you will see the time in stage fields available as both columns and filters.

Use this data in your reports to help gain key insights on your firm's pipeline process!
