Logging Into Lawmatics - Security

Lawmatics takes security very seriously and is proud to offer top-notch, industry standards for all of your data and sign-in security.

Social Sign-On

Social Sign-On is an identification method that enable users to log in to multiple applications with one set of credentials. Not only does social sign-on help improve security, it also saves your users time and effort by allowing them to use one set of credentials to access multiple applications. Lawmatics is pleased to offer social sign-on for both Google and Microsoft credentials.

It is very important to note that if you choose to sign in with social sign-on, you will no longer be able to sign in using your original Lawmatics credentials, you will need to sign in with social sign-on moving forward. Read on to learn more about this along with the steps of setting up social sign-on.

When you go to you login page, you will see something similar to the image below:

If you choose not to use social sign-on, you are welcome to use the regular Email Address and Password fields to enter your existing Lawmatics credentials. This is still a secure and effective way to access your Lawmatics account.

If you do wish to use social sign-on, select either Google or Microsoft, depending on which system you use. If you use Microsoft, you will be taken to a page similar to the one shown below, and prompted to enter your Microsoft credentials.

Similar, if you select Google for your social sign-on provider, you will be taken to a page such as the one below and prompted to enter your Google credentials.

As previously mentioned, it is very important to note that once you have chosen to use social sign-on (either Microsoft of Google), you cannot return to using your pre-existing Lawmatics credentials. Once you have set up social sign-on, you must login using social sign-on moving forward.

If you do attempt to sign in with your pre-existing Lawmatics credentials after you have already set up social sign-on, you will see a screen similar to the one below, and you must try to login again using either Google or Microsoft, whichever you previously set up.

Once again, you are not required to use social sign-on. You are welcome to login using your Lawmatics-specific credentials in the Email Address and Password fields.

Enterprise SSO

Note: we also offer Single Sign-On for enterprise firms. Reach out to our support team at support@lawmatics.com to access this option.

Two-Factor Authentication

In addition to social sign-on, Lawmatics also offers two-factor authentication for increased security. Again, this is not required, but we do recommend it for advanced security.

Two-factor authentication is a security system that requires two separate, distinct forms of identification in order to access an account. In this case, for Lawmatics two-factor authentication you will need your Lawmatics login credentials as well as access to your email account.

If you are using social sign-on as described in the section above, two factor authentication will already be built-in to your login process through either Google or Microsoft, so the following information will not apply to you.

To enable two-factor authentication, navigate to your Lawmatics settings (gear icon near the top right), then click My Settings in the top left. You will then see you user settings, as shown below. Click the "Use Two-Factor Authentication" toggle so that it turns green (as shown below) to turn on this option.

Now, when signing into your Lawmatics account, you will be told to check your email for 2FA code. When you check your email, you find a new email similar to the following:

Copy your one time 2FA code (above in bold), and paste it into the Lawmatics login page where requested.

You will now be able to login to your Lawmatics account.

Remember, when using 2FA, you will receive a new code each and every time you login.
