Overview

When creating a new pipeline, you must select which statuses should be visible. This determines which matters will automatically appear in that pipeline.

Selecting Matter Statuses for a Pipeline

  • PNC (Potential New Client): Recommended for intake pipelines.

  • Hired: Recommended for case management pipelines.

  • Multiple Statuses: A catch-all pipeline can include PNC, Hired, and Lost statuses.

Understanding Status Filtering

  • Matters can be placed in any pipeline, regardless of the selected status filters.

  • However, if a matter's status does not match the selected statuses for that pipeline, it will not be displayed.

  • This feature reduces clutter in your pipeline view.

Example: Handling Lost Leads in Intake Pipelines

  • A PNC that changes to Lost will still technically exist in the intake pipeline.

  • However, you likely do not want lost leads clogging up the pipeline view.

  • In this case, configure your pipeline to only show PNC matters.

  • If needed, use the Show All Matters toggle to briefly view lost leads.

Adjusting Status Selection

  • If a pipeline regularly requires toggling Show All Matters, reconsider the status settings.

  • Some firms prefer a single, all-encompassing pipeline including:

    • Intake (PNC)

    • Case Management (Hired)

    • Lost Leads (Lost)

  • Use sub-status selection to refine pipeline visibility further.

You can also use the status selection, highlighted above, to select any sub-statuses. Do this if you would like to narrow the pipeline visibility on a more granular level.

FAQ

Can I edit the status selection on a pipeline after creating it?

Yes. Navigate to Settings > Pipeline Settings, select the edit pencil for the pipeline, and modify the status settings.

Can I see contacts on my pipeline or just matters?

Pipelines only display matters. If you need to track a contact, create a matter for them and assign it to a pipeline stage.
