How Form Autosave Works

Updated this week

Form progress is automatically saved as a client fills out a form. This allows clients to complete longer forms over multiple sittings without losing their work.

Autosave Behavior

Form data is saved automatically while the client is completing the form.

  • Each time a client completes a field and moves to the next, the data is queued for saving

  • The system saves all changes approximately every 20 seconds

  • On multi-page forms, moving to the next page will immediately save any unsaved changes

In most cases, only a few seconds of progress may be lost if the form is closed unexpectedly.

File Uploads

Uploaded files are only saved once the client clicks the Submit button.

If a client uploads a file and exits the form before submitting, the file will not be retained and will need to be uploaded again. All other field types (text, dropdowns, checkboxes, dates, etc.) are saved automatically and will remain when the client returns to the form.

Single-Page vs. Multi-Page Forms

There is no significant difference in how autosave functions between single-page and multi-page forms. Both single-page and multi-page forms:

  • Automatically save field data approximately every 20 seconds

  • Retain entered information if the client exits and returns later

For multi-page forms, moving between pages will also trigger an immediate save.

FAQ’s

Will my progress be saved if I close the form?
Yes. Most field data is saved automatically and will be available when the form is reopened. A small amount of recent activity may not be saved if the form is closed before the next autosave.

Do files need to be re-uploaded if the form is not submitted?
Yes. Files are only saved after the form is submitted.
