If your Lawmatics subscription is an annual plan, your SMS tier will also be based on an annual plan.
If you exceed your plan's message limit, the following overage rates apply:
From Tier 1 to Tier 2: $0.03 per message
From Tier 2 to Tier 3: $0.022 per message
From Tier 3 and above: $0.02 per message
You can upgrade to a higher tier at any time to avoid overage charges.
SMS messages may be split into segments for billing.
Standard messages are segmented every 160 characters.
Messages containing special characters, emojis, or non-Latin scripts may be segmented at 70 characters per segment.
Example: A 120-character message may be counted as two segments (70 characters + 50 characters).
MMS messaging
Add an optional MMS package to receive photos and other documents from clients via text.

MMS counts as one message per send, regardless of content size.
FAQs
What is a message segment?
A message segment refers to a portion of an SMS, typically up to 160 characters. Messages longer than this will be split into multiple segments and counted accordingly.
How can I track how many messages I’ve sent?
You can view your sent and received message totals directly on the Billing page within the Lawmatics app.
Does the message count include both inbound and outbound messages?
Yes, your SMS usage includes both inbound and outbound messages.
Can I send fewer messages than my contracted amount?
Yes, you can send fewer messages than your plan allows. However, unused messages do not roll over to the next month or year.
When do I pay for overages if I’m on an annual plan?
If you're on an annual plan, any overage fees will be added to your next annual billing cycle.
What happens if I upgrade after incurring overages?
If you upgrade your plan after exceeding your monthly or annual limit, you’ll be charged the new tier rate moving forward — no overage fees will apply. However, all messages will still count toward your plan's limit.
What if my SMS volume changes month to month?
Once you upgrade your SMS plan, you won’t be able to downgrade. We recommend choosing a tier that closely matches your expected usage.
Can my SMS plan be billed annually?
If you’re on an annual plan for Lawmatics, your SMS charges will be included in your annual billing as well.
I’m currently paying $25/month for SMS — what changes for me?
If you're currently paying $25 per month for SMS, you’ll be moved to Tier 1 of the new pricing plans, and the monthly recurring fee will be removed.
Does an SMS tier include MMS?
MMS is not included in the base SMS plan. It’s available as an add-on for $25 per 1,000 MMS messages per month.
