Attorney Share Integration

Attorney Share is a referral marketplace that connects law firms with attorneys looking to send or receive cases. The Lawmatics integration lets you automatically post matters from Lawmatics directly to Attorney Share, where their AI processes the referral and matches it with attorneys on the platform.

This article covers how to connect the integration, configure it, and send matters to Attorney Share manually or through automation.

Before You Begin

You'll need an active Attorney Share account. The person who generates the API key in Attorney Share will be listed as the poster on any referrals submitted — it does not default to the Lawmatics user who sets up the connection.

Step 1: Get Your API Key from Attorney Share

  1. Log in to your Attorney Share account.

  2. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner and select Firm Settings.

  3. In the left navigation, click Direct Share API & Webhooks.

  4. Copy the API key from the Direct Share API section.

If you've never generated a key, use the Generate new API key button:

Step 2: Connect Attorney Share in Lawmatics

  1. In Lawmatics, go to Settings > Integrations > Attorney Share.

  2. Paste your API key into the API Key field and click Connect.

  3. When the status shows Connected, the integration is active.

Step 3: Complete Your Configuration

Four configuration sections will appear after connecting. All four need to be completed before syncing any matters.

Referral Fee (%) Set the default referral fee percentage. Default is 25%. This applies firm-wide — per-matter overrides are not currently supported.

Matter State Configuration Attorney Share requires a U.S. state (jurisdiction) for every referral. Choose one:

  • State From Main POC (default): pulls from the primary contact's address

  • Custom Field: select a matter-level list field if your firm tracks jurisdiction separately

Case Summary Field Mapper Attorney Share's AI uses the case summary to extract details and create the referral. Use this mapper to select which Lawmatics matter fields get included in what's sent to Attorney Share. These fields are appended to the matter's Case Blurb on submission.

The total information sent must be at least 200 characters. If a post fails, the most common fix is ensuring the case summary is more complete.

Practice Area Mapper Every practice area you plan to sync must be mapped to an Attorney Share practice area category. Matters with an unmapped or missing practice area will fail to post.

Step 4: Sync a Matter

Manually: Open a matter in Lawmatics and use the Sync to Attorney Share button. Once synced, the button will gray out — matters cannot be resynced. You can view the status of the post in the matter's activity timeline.

Via Automation: Add the Sync to Attorney Share action node to any prospect-based automation. This node only appears in the action list when the integration is connected.

What Happens After a Matter Is Synced

Posting is not immediate. When you sync a matter, it enters a queue in Attorney Share. Their AI processes the information and then posts it to the marketplace. This means there will be a delay between when you sync and when the referral appears in Attorney Share.

You can track the status in the matter's activity timeline in Lawmatics:

  • Matter successfully synced — the matter was submitted to Attorney Share

  • Referral successfully posted — Attorney Share's AI has processed and posted the referral

  • Referral failed to post — the submission was processed but did not post successfully

Once posted, the referral will appear in Attorney Share under My Cases > Outbound. By default, new referrals are placed in the Lead Intake Only phase. You can use your case description or mapped fields to influence Attorney Share's placement of the case.

Important Information About The Integration:

Cases are not posted instantly. When you sync a matter, it enters a queue in Attorney Share where their AI processes the information before posting it to the marketplace. This is expected — there will be a short delay between syncing in Lawmatics and the referral appearing live in Attorney Share.

The matter's main contact must have a phone number or email address. At least one is required for the post to go through. If neither is present, the sync will fail. Make sure your contact record is complete before syncing.

Every practice area you want to sync must be mapped. In the Practice Area Mapper in Lawmatics, each of your practice areas needs to be matched to an Attorney Share category. If a matter's practice area isn't mapped, the post will fail. This is worth double-checking during initial setup.

The case summary must be at least 200 characters. Attorney Share's AI needs enough information to create a quality referral. If your case blurb is too short, the post will fail. Use the Case Summary Field Mapper to include additional matter fields and ensure the threshold is met.

FAQS

Why did my matter fail to post to Attorney Share?

The most common reasons are:

  • The main contact on the matter is missing both a phone number and email address. At least one is required.

  • The case summary is under 200 characters. Add a more detailed case blurb or map additional fields in the Case Summary Field Mapper.

  • The matter's practice area isn't mapped in the Practice Area Mapper.

  • The matter's state/jurisdiction couldn't be resolved: check that the primary contact has a state on their address, or that your configured custom field is populated.

Can I resync a matter after it's been sent?

Once a matter has been synced and posted successfully, the button is grayed out and cannot be triggered again unless the post expires or fails to post.

Who shows up as the poster in Attorney Share?

The person who generated the API key in Attorney Share, not the Lawmatics user who set up the integration.

My API key stopped working. What do I do?

If your key becomes invalid, you'll need to go back to Attorney Share, generate a new key, and reconnect the integration in Lawmatics with the updated key.

The Sync to Attorney Share node isn't showing up in my automations.

This node only appears when the Attorney Share integration is connected. Verify the connection in Settings > Integrations > Attorney Share.

What data gets sent to Attorney Share?

Contact name, email (if present), phone (if present), case blurb & any custom mapped summary fields, QualifyAI score reasoning (if applicable), practice area, jurisdiction, and referral fee.

What does "Lead Intake only" mean in Attorney Share?

When a referral is posted without any context of the case phase, it defaults to the Lead Intake Only phase in Attorney Share. This phase is active for 7 days. If no action is taken, the referral will show as expired and you can resync from Lawmatics.
